Santo Domingo LRT Pre-Feasibility Study

Santo Domingo/Dominican Republic, 1999

The Dominican Republic is one of the rising nations in the Caribbean area. Its capital Santo Domingo with approx. 4.0 million inhabitants develops more and more into a modern large city. At present, roads with several lanes are built throughout the entire city. In   one of these corridors, an Urban Mass Transit System („Metro Ligero“) should be implemented. The Siemens company as turn-key- provider assigned LRTC to support the elaboration a turn-key-offer.

The performances of LRTC have included:

  • System selection study
  • Operational concept
  • Check of available bridges with regard to load-carrying capacity Implementation strategy
  • Preliminary design of permanent way (exclusive right of way on a viaduct sections, underpasses in junction areas and for the rest segregated right of way)
  • Preliminary design of the depot
  • Design of electromechanical equipment.
